Transitional Living: Rebuilding What Matters Most

Better Days Begin Here
When people hear “halfway house,” they might picture rules and routines.
Houses of Hope, Transitional Living is about something deeper: giving men the structure, support, and real-life tools they need to move from surviving to rebuilding.
In 2025, 123 men were served through our Transitional Living program. Of those, 101 were newly admitted during the year. Each one arrived with a different story. Many with a clearer plan for what comes next.
More Than a Place to Stay
Transitional Living provides housing for up to 36 men across three homes, but what matters most is what happens inside.
Steady routines restore rhythm to daily life. Shared meals and accountability rebuild responsibility. Counseling creates space for men to understand their substance use and mental health while building healthier, more stable futures.
Residents engage in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing. The average stay was 107 days. By the time they completed the program, Daily Living scores reflected real progress in coping skills, decision-making, and everyday stability.
Behind every number is something personal: a job secured, a relationship repaired, a renewed sense of purpose.
A Full-Circle Kind of Hope
Jason Truhlicka sees that transformation up close.
Now a Case Manager, he helps residents set goals, find employment, and prepare for independent living. He also once participated in the program himself.
When asked what recovery means, he says:
“Recovery means hope. Hope in knowing you’re not alone. Hope in knowing there is a solution.”
He’s watched men reconnect with family, secure steady jobs, and accomplish goals they once believed were out of reach. “Seeing clients build healthy relationships, repair damaged ones, and reach goals they set out to achieve is such a blessing,” he shares.
That steady progress defines Transitional Living.
Growth That Lasts
In 2025, 43 percent of residents completed treatment, meeting or exceeding national averages. Nearly all said they would recommend Houses of Hope to someone they care about, and the vast majority would choose these services again.
Those responses reflect trust. Safety. Real change.
Through outpatient services, transitional living, and residential treatment, Houses of Hope supports individuals as they rebuild their lives with strength and confidence.
